Thanks to the long-standing generosity of Kewanee Hospital, Freedom House has a new site for its Henry County Outreach Office. It is now located at 716 Elliott St., Suite 6 in Kewanee. Susan serves as its manager and also as a legal advocate for Freedom House clients.
The first Henry County Outreach Office was opened in Kewanee in 1985, also in collaboration with Kewanee Hospital. The location of this site was kept secret until it was moved to a safe and secure office within the hospital. From there, the outreach office was moved to a larger space at Arrow Towers South until its most recent move to 716 Elliott.
The new outreach office is located across from Kewanee Hospital in its Specialty Clinic. The Freedom House space features an office area for Susan; an enclosed counseling/office space for Dr. Rebekah Dees-McMahon, therapist; a room to hold support groups; and a pantry area.
Support groups for survivors of domestic violence are offered at the Freedom House Outreach Office in Kewanee on the second and fourth Monday of every month at noon and every second and fourth Thursday of every month at 4 p.m. For information, call Susan at (309) 852-4008. There is no charge to attend any of the groups.
Susan also has an office in the Henry County Courthouse, 307 W. Center St., Cambridge, compliments of the Henry County State's Attorney. To contact her for more information or an appointment, call (309) 852-4008 or (800) 474-6031.
